RULES FOR FLIGHT OPERATIONS |
These Rules
are intended for use in conjunction with the By-Laws of ADFC, to
direct its members on proper protocol for flight operations. All
members shall read and be familiar with the content of these
documents. Members with questions regarding these Rules should
contact the President. Any member who violates any of the rules
herein shall be considered for revocation of membership. A member
misusing or abusing ADFC property in any manner will be denied use
of ADFC aircraft until a review of the events has been conducted by
the Board of Directors.

Scheduling and Use of Time |
- It should be thoroughly
understood that the proper use of the reservation system used by
the club is the key to a successful and cooperative operation,
with maximum use of the aircraft and minimum number of conflicts
among members.
- With your reservation
of each aircraft, you are declaring to the other members that the
aircraft are assigned to your custody for the period of time
reserved.
- Only members on the “ACTIVE
STATUS LIST” who meets all currency requirements
can schedule an aircraft. Therefore, you should follow these
rules:

A Active member must have a valid FAA
Pilot’s Certificate
2.
A valid FAA medical certificate
3.
A current FAA flight Bi Annual flight
review
4.
Must have been PIC in make & model
in the last 90 days.
- Reserve precisely the
time you want, to the minute, if possible.

When calling the answering service
please provide your member name, telephone number, date or dates
needed, times needed and which aircraft you are reserving.
- Scheduled ADFC aircraft
must be claimed ON TIME.
An aircraft not claimed within 30 minutes after the scheduled time
will then become available to other members for scheduling.
- You may reserve the
aircraft ahead of time, up to 12 months before the flight.
- Cancel as soon as you
know you cannot keep the reservation, whether for weather or other
reasons.
- Contact the
answering service, if
you are delayed and cannot return on schedule. All delays should
be reported promptly to prevent an undue anxiety, investigation,
search and rescheduling of aircraft.
- Be sure to bring up any
problems connected with use of aircraft at the monthly meetings,
so that they may be resolved to the satisfaction of all.
- If you are taking an
ADFC aircraft for a week or more, you must contact the Maintenance
Officer (Larry Stevens) so he can determine the impact, if any on
scheduled maintenance.
- Each member shall
indicate the aircraft flight time in the Aircraft Flight Time Log
Book, which is located in the aircraft or in a cabinet located in
the aircraft hanger. This Aircraft Flight Time Log Book has the
following to be filled out for each flight:
(DATE OF FLIGHT, MEMBERS NAME, TACH TIME
OUT, TACH TIME IN, HOBBS OUT, HOBBS IN, TOTAL FLIGHT TIME FROM
HOBBS, FUEL PURCHASED IN GALLONS, INVOICE NUMBER FOR FUEL.)
- Any aircraft problems
or squawks should be:

2.
Maintenance officer should be called.

- Each member joining
ADFC, shall have a check out flight or flights from one of the
ADFC approved instructors in each make and model aircraft and be
signed off in the members pilot’s logbook, with a copy sent to the
Clubs Treasurer, before he or she make take a solo custody of the
aircraft. Members with a Private Certificate or better, MUST be
rechecked by a club instructor or by a club officer that is
current and feels safe flying from the right seat, if the member
has not logged any flight time in the same make and model in a 90
day period. It is the member’s responsibility to provide a copy
of his or her Bi-Annual Flight Review every two years. It is the
member’s responsibility to provide a copy of his or her medical
certificate each time of renewal. If, either of these two items
is not completed as per the FAR’s, he or she is not allowed to fly
the club aircraft until a copy is forwarded to the Club Treasurer.
It is the pilot’s responsibility to return the ADFC aircraft in a
ready to go condition.
This means:
The aircraft are BUG FREE/OIL & DIRT FREE exterior and
interior clean.
The fuel tanks are near full anytime of the year.

Cross County Flight Rules |
- Check aircraft
carefully before each flight.
- Repair or have repaired
all items affecting safety of flight. Contact the Maintenance
Officer on any maintenance problems, large or small. (Larry
Stevens 503-819-9856).

Use only AERO SHELL
AVIATION OIL W-100 in either aircraft. On extended cross-country
trip, make sure there are a couple of quarts of oil in the baggage
compartment. The recommended oil levels in either aircraft is from
8-quarts (full) to 6-quarts. Regular oil changes are due every
25-tach hours and oil filter changes every 50-tach hours.
- Use the proper fuel
grade. Both ADFC aircraft use 100LL low lead, but the C-172 may
use 80/87 grade if available.

NOTE: When
returning aircraft to the hangar, make sure you refill the fuel
tanks before leaving the aircraft for the next member.
- Members should use the
ADFC credit cards to pay for fuel & oil. These credit cards are
located in the aircraft flight time log notebook. If for some
reason you cannot use ADFC credit card, you may use your personal
credit card by turning a receipt with you name on it, this amount
will be deducted from you flying bill. Write the N# of aircraft
and the gallons purchased. Credit card receipts must show the
aircraft N#, the kind of goods, the date of transaction, invoice #
and the amount of sale. After returning the aircraft to its
hanger, place all receipts in the RECEIPT BAG that is located in
the drawers in each of the hangers.
- When parking ADFC
aircraft away from Mulino airport:
- Secure inside storage
whenever possible to preclude storm damage. If aircraft must be
stored outside, be sure that it is tied down securely.
- If you have the Piper
Warrior, you must use the canopy cover that is stored in the
baggage compartment.
- Make sure the tie
down ropes or chains are secure and adequate strength to hold
the aircraft.
- Lock the aircraft
doors if possible. In any event, do not leave the keys in the
aircraft

NOTE: THIS IS YOUR SOLE RESPONSIBILITY
WHEN THE AIRCRAFT IS IN YOUR POSSESSION!
- Members planning
flights outside of the contiguous 48 US must notify the Director
of Flight Operations/Maintenance Officer of their intentions at
least two weeks in advance. At the expense of the member, a
Canadian or Mexican Insurance card will then be requested for the
aircraft from our insurance carrier. The member is responsible
for determining what documents are required for trans-border
flights to and from the US.
- Members taking aircraft
out of the area, over the end of the one-month into the beginning
of the next month, must turn in the current Flight Log sheet to
the drawers in the hangers, before departing on their flight.

It is the responsibility of each member
to be familiar, to observe and abide by:

1. ADFC By-Laws, Board Resolutions and
the Rules of ADFC.

2. Manufacture’s operating procedures for each
ADFC aircraft.

3. The applicable laws, rules and regulations
of the Federal Aviation Administration.

When members are taking ADFC aircraft
for any time period, please close the hanger doors.
·
When placing the aircraft back into the
hanger, the member should use the winch for safety reasons, member’s
safety and aircraft protection.
·
Equipment provided by ADFC is for the
exclusive use of its members. (e.g. headsets, GPS devices etc.)
·
No member shall allow a non-member to
operate ADFC aircraft.
·
ADFC aircraft may be used for
instruction, for pleasure flights and for transportation.
·
ADFC aircraft may not be used for
maneuvers or any flights which many impose unusual strain on the
aircraft and its systems or exceed aircraft operation limitations
(see POH).
·
Any member, who damages ADFC equipment
through negligence or in violation of prescribed procedures, will be
responsible for the repair of that damage.
·
Any member who flies in or out of a
dirt, gravel, rock surface, sod airport will be held fully
responsible for all damage to ADFC aircraft. Such as: propeller
damage, paint nicks, dents to metal surfaces.
·
When returning the aircraft to the
hangers, please ensure that you have re-filled the fuel tanks, as a
courtesy, to as near full as possible for the next member.
·
Each member has a stake in the
appearance of the ADFC aircraft; so when you return the aircraft,
please leave it in “BUG FREE/DIRT & OIL FREE” condition. It should
be as clean or cleaner after you return from flying as
when you departed.

Windscreen- clean after every flight
with Pledge and a soft cloth. Use straight up & down strokes.
Avoid circular motions, which can create swirls in the Plexiglas.
Never use abrasive cleaning pads or degreasing cleaner.
§
Leading edges, cowling, struts, wheel
pants, spinner and propeller- Clean with Pledge and a soft cloth
after EVERY flight.
o
GARBAGE- remove
o
PERSONAL ITEM- remove
o
WINDSCREEN- clean with Pledge and soft
cloth
o
INSTRUMENT PANEL- wipe with a dry cloth
or Armour-All
o
SEATS- clean with soap and hot water as
needed
o
CARPETS- vacuum as needed, but must look
clean.

Always figure the density altitude when
the temperature is above 70’ F.

·
Always know your personal limitations
when flying an ADFC aircraft under winds, weather, and light and
terrain conditions.

All flights out of the local area,
members should file a flight plan.

·
Overloading of the aircraft is
prohibited. It is the responsibility of the club member to know the
authorized loading requirements of each aircraft.

If an accident or incident occurs, the
member is responsible for:
o
Obtaining immediate emergency medical
assistance.
o
Protecting the aircraft. Any additional
loss due to failure to protect the aircraft is not recoverable from
the insurance company.
o
Notifying the ADFC as soon as possible.
Call the Maintenance Officer: Larry Stevens, 503-816-9856, or board
member.
o
Notifying Law Enforcement as soon as
possible.
o
Reporting to the FAA or NASA, as
appropriate, in a timely manner.
